The two connectors are keyed and cannot be attached incorrectly. Black = power, orange = SATA data cable. The other end of the data cable is attached to the motherboard in the orange socket. That end has a sprung lock so remember to depress it when removing. The boot drive goes to socket #0, the backup drive to socket #1, the DVD burner to socket #2.
